5 brilliant tips to follow when studying Public Relations

Hello everyone!! It’s just amazing how much I have learnt throughout this wonderful journey, doing my Diploma in Public Relations. Now that I’m doing my 2nd year and almost at the finishing line I thought to myself “why not share my knowledge to the aspiring Public Relations Practitioners like me”

Hence, I have compiled five basic tips to consider when studying Public Relations. Now dive in, enjoy and share:

http://goo.gl/7AGsBt

         1. Be sure about  what you want to study
It is truly shocking how students will decide to study Public Relations for four or three years, only to find out that it is not what they have hoped for . Therefore it is very important to do a career assessment where you compare your personalities, strengths with a career that would be suitable for you

 2 . Start reading now
I urge you to start reading any articles, speeches, blog post this will not only help you to improve your thinking capabilities but it will also help you to better understand the context or a phenomenon within the PR field....so are you up for a challenge? then try this link http://goo.gl/tNku

                                                         3.  Keep up-to-date with news
http://goo.gl/zLQRYF
Well, I know I know some of you don’t even attempt to watch or even listen to the news because you find them boring, uninteresting or whatever the reason might be. Being familiar or aware with what’s happening in the world will help you to connect with your studies and practice.

                                                          4.Get involved in PR communities

http://goo.gl/3k3UcZ
This is the easiest to implement. So basically you need to be active on social media such as Pinterest, Facebook, LinkedIn and so forth. In that way you will be able to find and follow  PR professionals and other students. Your opinion and thoughts count so don’t be shy to start a conversation or participate.

                                                               5.    Look for experience
http://goo.gl/8Jcsv0
Having an experience is very important within any course of study or field, therefore you really need to be aware that experience counts a lot in Public Relations. Try to find part time jobs or volunteer at any PR related organisation or company. If you already volunteer, that’s the way to go!!! But try to find PR professional’s contacts so that you can ask favours in the near future.

Hope you find these tips useful. Oh! And you are more than welcome to share your thoughts (winks). For more information regarding Public Relations you can click on this link http://goo.gl/uO7Mxg
